Time to celebrate!

I got the job that I went for :-)

I found out last week, but had to wait for it to be announced and for the credit and security checks to be done.  They had to make sure that I’m a “good citizen”.  I was so stoked when I got the call to let me know.  It’s very exciting to be chosen for a job, in this difficult economic climate, when you’ve been a SAHM for the last 5 years and have a wide and varied resume like mine.  I have no formal qualifications, I have School Certificate (I guess the equivilant of NCEA level 1) but the rest is all life and work experience.

Want to know what I’ll be doing?

I’m going to be a part-time Service Consultant (bank teller) for a bank.  It will be a new experience and line of work, but I’ve wanted to get into banking for quite a while.  So next week is my last week of freedom.  I have most of Cam’s after school care sorted out, just need to spend next week getting more stuff sorted for the house re-piling.  We finally have the finances sorted out and should be able to start getting contractors in next week.  Of course the actual moving of the house is probably going to happen while I’m still settling onto my new job.

Insurance has been the big hang-up for getting the house stuff sorted.  It’s costing us $2200 in insurance just for the week that the house is repiled and the electriciy and plumbing is reconnected.  That’s such a lot of money for such a short amount of time, but required by the bank.  Lets hope we don’t need to claim for anything.
