50g butter

1 packet of marshmallows (minus a couple to check they are good!)

3 cups of rice bubbles.

Melt the butter in a big pot, add marshmallows, let marshmallows melt, moving them in the pot constantly to prevent burning. When melted add the rice bubbles, remove from the heat. Stir them in as fast as you can because once you remove them from the heat they start to set straight away. When rice bubble are mixed in as best you can, transfer the mix to a silicone baking dish, or a lined baking dish. Press down with clean fingers. Leave to set for about an hour. Store in an air tight container. This makes about 12 bars.

You could add the little baking M & M’s to these as well. Regular chocolate chip melt too fast :-(

It never rains….

but it pours :-)   After a very quiet time work-wise I have 2 quilt commissions to start tomorrow.  One is  a cot quilt I’ll be making from this fabric…

One is a custom quilt with the fabric being supplied by the customer.  On top of that I have a quilt arriving that I’m doing to quilting on in return for some fabric. I need to finish the last of 3 quilts that were part of a barter, this is the last quilt in progress.  Hopefully I can add the last of the border, quilt it and bind it today and tonight.

On the personal front I need to trim and bind my mini quilt for DQ Swap 11 and package it up with some goodies by Tuesday.  I need to start and finish a handmade item or two for the Make Mine Modern Swap and gather up the fabric and notions to go with that.  I only have 1 week to get that swap ready. I need to cut and send fabric out for a quilting bee, August is my month. I’ll be asking for black and white stars to go with these ones….

On the exciting news front, my niece had a baby a couple of days ago, I’d love to make something gorgeous for her baby girl, but it might have to wait a few weeks.  This week will be quite busy, it’s Cameron’s last full week at Kindy, next Monday will be his last day.  He has a school visit on Wednesday which I’ll go to with him.  We will go buy his stationary for school on Monday and give it to the teacher.  Another school visit on Friday to show the teacher his homework and read with her (their preschool programme for 4 year olds is awesome).  Birthday party on Saturday for Cameron and his mates (13 kids if they all turn up).  Afternoon tea party on Sunday with family and friends.  Busy is good though.

Matt has been going to a local work skills course.  While it’s really aimed at the late teens and others who failed school, it has been helpful.  Just the motivation to get out of bed and be there each morning, just like going to to work has been good, and being a bit different from the others on the course means he’s probably a bit of a teacher’s pet.  The course instructor’s will do all they can to get Matt into some work.  He is going to do some work experience next week, working for someone who will likely give Matt a job as soon as one becomes available as he has worked with Matt before.  It sure is not what you now in this town (and economic climate) it’s who you know.  Fingers crossed anyway.

I got 2 new hens last week.  Hylines.  They are so lovely, very placid compared to my flock :-)   They have been laying 2 eggs each day, like clockwork.  Beautiful brown eggs.
