Well after about 8 days of constant rain, gale force winds and thunderstorms, today has turned out better. It has drizzled a wee bit at times and is still cold outside, but at least the heavy rain, thunderstorms and wind has stopped. Getting washing dry has been a mission. I can get one load dry on the racks above the fire, but with 6 people in the house there is more than one load each day. So I’ve been having to use the drier as well. We had a brief lull of a few hours on Saturday morning when the wind and rain stopped, so I rushed outside and mowed the lawns for 2 hours. I got most of it done (only because I did it without a catcher on). The driveway is a big mud puddle, I bet Cam will make the most of that when he can. He loves to ride his bike through the puddles.
The school reports were interesting ready, Lilly’s were all great (apart from talking too much), Nathan were all “needs to work harder” but has the talent to achieve. Yesterday we had parent /teacher interviews, so I had 9 teachers to see, 4 for Lilly, not because she is bad at anything, but because I want them to extend and challenge her and 5 of Nathan’s teachers to see if he is on track to pass his end of year exams. Well, I’ll keep you posted on the outcome of that. I hope so. He is very clever, just incredibly lazy (as I’m sure are lots of 15-year-old boys).
Last day of school tomorrow, then 2 weeks of Winter holidays, after that Nathan only has 12 weeks of school left for the year, then his exams. Lily is at school till 19th of Dec I think, much longer as she is junior college. Only 4 more weeks till Cameron goes to school. I’m feeling a bit nervous for him, but he has been enjoying his preschool visits with the teacher he will have and will have lots of good mates in his class. Once he is at school I will start looking for some work outside the home to bring in more income so we can do renovations to our house. After a busy time with quilting and selling masses of baby shoes in my Felt shop things have been very quiet for the past couple of weeks. Which has it’s good and bad points.
I made some cheese this week. I thought I would start with Ricotta, being the easiest to make. I tried with some fresh goats milk I was given, but it didn’t work. I’m not sure why, as I did another batch straight away using regular pasteurized cows milk and it turned out fine. So we added the ricotta to our pizza. Yum!
Heating the milk…
Ricotta!
I’ve been doing a wee bit of quilting, turning this…
into this:
I should be in the sewing room right now, quilting this, but just can’t find the motivation. Maybe tonight.

Did you have the cheese with the salami we gave you ?????
Oh boy its been decades since we made cheese – no help here.
I love the top the way it turned out.
Cam and Jaxon will start around the same time, but Jaxon is starting all new — his preschool is in another town. I’m worried for him!
Cheese looks great! What recipie did you use?
