I thought it was time that I posted for the week. I don’t have much to say for myself at the moment. Sometimes I think I do, but it’s all random crap that floats around in my head and hardly ever makes it onto the blog. You should be glad, most of its drivel and self-pitying.
So I was just reading a fab blog, Amy is a fabulous photographer. Her post was about genre, in regards to her photos. I often think about what kind of quilter I am, and really I can’t be pigeon-holed into one kind of quilter really. I wouldn’t class myself as traditional, although I do like some of the traditional patterns (like my Bear Paw quilt and Julie’s sampler), I could be kinda classed as a modern quilter, but if i like some of the traditional ones does that rule me out??? I like free-piecing most of all, but still like to use a pattern sometimes for ease of use and easy fabric yardage. One of my favourite pastimes is taking a block pattern and enlarging it to a massive scale and the bastardizing it a wee bit and making it my own way. I don’t do much applique, but a wee bit here and there. I guess I sound pretty normal to the quilter in the circles that I work in
So, on that note I’ll leave you with pics of this weeks work – blocks for Lilly’s Dr Seuss quilt, which are from a pattern in Material Obsession and the almost finished Cat in the Hat – quilt 2 in red and white – no pattern, all free piecing.
