Number 6 is done – YAY!!!
I have admit this one nearly didn’t get made at all.
It’s a quilting bee quilt, sort of anyway. Out of all the bee’s I’ve been in (10 in total, 4 of which are still currently running) this was the worst and nearly put me off quilting bees completely. It was only the 2nd or 3rd bee I’d participated in and I was still a bit naive I think. I only ended up with 8 blocks back instead of the 11 I should have had. I asked for paper pieced blocks, which is something I would never do now that I have hindsight, not only because a lot of bee participants will say yes they are happy to do paper piecing, but in reality they are not that keen, but also I got everyone to print off their own pattern pieces and not everyone was printing to scale (including me)! So out of the 9 blocks I had (including mine), 3 were the wrong size, one was made from different white fabric than I sent (it did matter as it was almost a cream instead). So 3 blocks had to be remade just to make up the 9 that you see here.
I like the quilt now that it’s made up, but it was a bit of a mission to get it complete.
I haven’t been totally put off quilting bees, in fact some of them have been fantastic!

Yay! I am glad to hear you survived this bee — I chose this exact same block for my first (and only) bee and had the same experience!
I love this block and I also enjoy foundation piecing so I am definitely going to make one of these, one day! The quilt top is very pretty and you will, hopefully, soon forget the angst and love it all the same!
Love the colours,a nice fresh look, well done.
I love the colours in this one too. It looks like a rainbow. Very nice!
I think it looks lovely. I was invited to join a bee and they do look kind of fun but I am worried that people will want complicate blocks which I’ll mess up – all the worse if people have sent me fabrics to make the blocks…especially if there is not enough fabric to correct any mistakes.
You’ve been so busy Viv! Loving all your quilts. They are looking fabulous. I definitely won’t be joining a bee for another few years… I don’t know how you find the time! And the patience! You are amazing. I’ve got to remake a couple of my blocks too… 1 is significantly smaller with larger seams and the other rotates differently to all the other blocks. It was great experience though. Hope all is well over the hill!
Viv, It’ good to see that you finished it and survived the bee intact even if the blocks didn’t. Looking forward to starting up again on Monday.
I can’t believe how many you’ve finished already. You go girl!
