I know sometimes to my readers it might seem like quilts just appear from nowhere, but let me assure you that’s not the case. Quite a few hours go into making a quilt. The last custom quilt Imade i documented the hours I put in and took pics along the way so you could see how it happens.
Cutting……….
Ready to piece…….
Piecing………..
Starting to come together………
First 2 rows…………..
4 rows………
Basted, ready for quilting……..
Quilting…….
Almost done………..
Finished!
Labelled…….
Ready for delivery.
Time spent on this quilt:
Cutting 3.5 hours
Piecing 7.5 hours
Basting 1 hour
Quilting 4 hours
Binding 1 hour.
So the total time for a large single quilt – 17 hours.

Its gorgeous Viv. Love the quilting too!
I know how long it takes me to do 4x 12″ blocks each month so I still stand in awe, Viv!!
What a beautiful quilt! I like the colours that you have used
But I must say that I am very impressed by the time it has taken you to make it!
Wow Viv.
Beautiful colours too.
Wow, that seems fast.
Beautiful quilt and I love the colours- wow! 17 hours – you are fast!
Love the progress report, very cool
That looks so nice, well done.
Awesome quilt and great to see it broken down like that. It didn’t really take you that long – you must be very speedy on all the stages! x
I am in utter awe at how quickly you can do this Viv and be so accurate Its a divine quilt in the style of quilt picked for these fabrics and the neat free motion quilting too
Thank you for showing us non quilters what goes into making a quilt. It looks so hard getting all the pieces together and then theres the quilting. WOW!!! It looks so incredible. What do you use between the top and bottom (inside) of the quilt?
It’s amazing how great cutting fabric up and stitching it back together can look!
I spy a little Beach Hut quilt on the wall that a certain person made you in a swap!
And my daughter (aged 2.5 yrs) is the very lucky girl who now has THIS quilt on her bed!! Viv – we love the quilt.
As a fellow fabric lover, it is wonderful to see my stash transformed into a work of art and a family heirloom now. It will be cherished.
Wow – so impressed; both with the Finished Object and the documentation of the process.
Thankyou
