Vote for me???

So, I’ve entered a contest over on the Quilting Gallery. It’s a great site :-)   This is the first time I’ve entered a competition.  I’d love it if you’d vote  for me.  I promise to use the prize for good and not evil.  I’m pretty sure mines not technically  the best, but it is fresh and modernand apart from the central square the rest is original.  Here’s the link.

It’s wet here.  Been raining for almost 2 weeks.  Before that we were having a drought.  I guess it’s broken now.  The water tanks are full, the driveway is under water and the paddocks are turning to mud.  I’d quite like it to stop raining now.  In amongst all the rain we did have one fine day.  We took that opportunity to go to Henley Lake for a walk.

Autumn is my favourite season.  I love the intensity of all the colours.  All the pics below are unadulterated colourwise, the only adjustment is resizing for the blog.

So I’m going to break it into 3 posts, otherwise they will be very pic heavy.  I’ll be posting about real life (you know , family stuff, what been doing etc),  thank you post to all who have been great to me lately (giveaways and presents etc) and a crafty post.  I’m going to start with the crafty post.

I have made a whole quilt in the past week, but it hasn’t been delivered yet, so you’ll have to wait on pics of that.  Needless to say it’s stunning, beautiful pink, green, blue shabby chic sort of colours (not my choice, but truly gorgeous).  The fabric was sent to me and I feel I done it justice. I’ve cranked out a few bee blocks for May…………

This one is for Kellie

These 2 for Leanne…….

I loved getting to work with the Timber fabrics

I finally got my Embroidery Mini Quilt swap finished.  Not my best work, but I tried :-(

And I needed to make something for a matchbox swap.  So I made the recipient a necklace (which just fits inside the matchbox).  I suck at beading, so that’s another craft I probably won’t repeat.

The last job on my to-do list was to get me fabric ready to send out for the Beatnik Bee, done ! I sewed up the fabric in pages from an old Alice in Wonderland book.

Back tomorrow :-)

This is my post for the Blogger Quilt Festival.

The picture shows my Mother In Law Beryl with the quilt I made her for her 80th birthday (Feb 2010).  I started making this quilt with no firm plan of what to do with it when I was finished, but once I was about halfway though I decided it would make a fantastic present for Beryl.  It’s always difficult to buy for relatives who basically lack for nothing, but Beryl is also a SUPBERB crafter who makes wedding dresses, sews clothing and has a bunch of City and Guilds qualifications.  However she is always supportive of anyone crafting and appreciates anything handmade.  One thing Beryl doesn’t do very often is make quilts.  The colours I had chosen were ones I knew she would like.  The quilt was gifted in Feb, which is summer here in NZ, so the quilt has been living on Beryls couch for the last few months, proudly being shown to all her friends and visitors.  On Wednesday night Beryl phoned up to tell me is was finally cold enough to put the quilt on her bed and she is looking forward to keeping warm under it. Yay.  This quilt is one of my fave’s because I feel it really is appreciated.

Some progress shots of it.

Now go and check out some other quilt festival posts, just follow the link below.

Winner :-)

I’ve drawn a winner for the fabric in the Sew Mama Sew giveaway.  Congratulations to Sarah Elizabeth Brown who made this comment

”So beautiful! They’d end up in a quilt for sure, and likely a quilt for myself (I tend to give my quilts away, usually forgetting to photograph them too!). I spent the happiest four months of my life hiking all over NZ, mostly on the South Island, back in 2004-2005. I’d go back in a heartbeat. I live in Canada, a pretty darn nice country, but I think NZ has us beat hands down for “best country ever” award.”

Thanks heaps to everyone who entered.  I wish I had more to give.  I think I’ll have to do 2 prizes next time.  I have some PIF’s to come up with soon, so there will be other chances to win later.

Giveaway Day. Yay!!

So, here I am participating in Sew Mama Sew’s Giveaway Day. I did this a few years ago, but not last year. It feels good to do it all again and to give something away, especially as I have been on the receiving end of some giveaways lately.

So here’s my offer. 4 x quarter metres of New Zealand print fabric. I wanted to offer something a bit different, and something that was distinctly NZ. All you have to do is leave a comment, it would be nice to hear what you might use the fabric for if you were to win. A winner will be drawn on the 20th May.

Good luck !
