We picked the first of the seasons wild raspberries this morning.

We have about a kilo so far, there would have been more, but Cam was eating them almost as fast as I was picking them. He liked carrying the basket for me

After a rest and some lunch Ian went up the road and picked blackberries.

The berries are ready quite early this year, usually we pick them mid to late February. I’m not complaining though, as all the other fruit is very expensive at the moment. So now the dilemma, do I make jam or dessert or freeze them for smoothies? I did finally make some Strawberry jam this morning with berries I froze last year.
I did a wee bit of sewing yesterday. I made Matt a pencil roll for Xmas with 36 spaces in it, but the set of pencils I got for him had 48, plus he had a few others that need a home as well, so for the last few weeks he has been on my case to make him another one. I am flattered that he wanted me to make another one instead of buying something, but it wasn’t really high on my priority list, but he kept bugging me, so I got it done.

I have a few swaps on my agenda, so at the moment I’m working on a pincushion for a swap. It involves a lot of hand stitching, which is not really my strong point, but it’s turning out quite nice.
The Wings over Wairarapa Air Show is on this weekend. There have been so many cool old planes going overhead.

I’m off to garden now while its cool outside. I’ve pulled out all my old woody herb plants and now I have to plant the new ones.
