of the holidays.
We had our walk up to Mountain House which is up Mount Holdsworth (east of Masterton). Not fun :-0 I didn’t really expect it to be too bad, we’ve been up there before to walk to Donnelly Flats or the loop walk, but the track we we’re on was called Gentle Annie, a message in sarcasm for sure. I think the name mountain house should have given it away really. But I’m a bit dense about things like that sometimes. Anyway picture a 5km seriously uphill tramp, that took over 3 hours, and then 5km downhill back (only about 1.5 hrs). Bloody horrible. I’m soooooo unfit! Cam didn’t enjoy it much either as we went with the scouts so it was a real tramp, and not a friendly walk in the bush, so not much exploring. He was in the Patapum a bit more than half the time, and either carried by Dad or walking the rest of the way. Not particularly interested in the snow either (must take after me), but the other had a great time having snowball fights. Matt and his girlfriend Jilese came too, which was nice. Anyway here’s some pics of the walk. More blogging after the pics
See the snow up on the hills? Thats where we went.
The kidlets, big and small.
Cam rugged up ready to go
Climbing the steps.
And with Daddy.
And with Mummy.

On the downhill. Me and Nathan.
Yay, going home
Ian and I were both hurting by the time we got to the bottom. Hips, knees, ankles, feet etc. I had blisters on the side of my big toes that really hurt. Next time the scouts go on a hike they can go without me.
The following day (Friday) Lilly and I went over to the Hutt to do some jobs. God I hate the big shopping malls there, especially as they have no natural light, and horrible loud music in most of the shops. Needless to say we got back home as soon as we could.
Saturday was my last quilting class for the big quilt I’m making. I learnt how to apply the applique that goes over the top. I skivved off early expecting to get home in time to take the kids to Clare’s for Iris’ 1st birthday, but Cam was sleeping (for once), and clearly too crook to go. Ian had taken him to the Doc’s on Friday to get checked out, and he had Croup, after having a cold for two weeks. But he kept getting worse, and we didn’t get much sleep on Saturday night. I took him to the after hours Doc on Sunday, where he spent some time on a nebulizer and got a dos of steroids. Then we went up to the hospital to get him checked there, but the steroids were kicking in by then, so off we went home. I’m glad to say the after getting back up at 9 last night, and vomiting all over me (charming) Cam had cleared enough mucus to be able to sleep better, and then slept in till a bit after 8 this morning (he’s usually bang on 7.15). He was heaps better today, the steroids make a huge difference, so he has then off a few more days.
I’m hoping to get some sewing done tomorrow, I need to do some shoes for a swap, a pencil roll for a birthday gift, and some baby stuff (bibs and things) as a pressie for Matt’s boss who is expecting her first baby in a few weeks. Yay for having no other jobs to do.
